Establishing a Connection with the nano EDGE ENGINE Device
Once a nE2 device extension is added to the device, it can be used to connect to that controller.
The connection is established through a dedicated IP address and port, which can be different from the Bacnet
connection to the device.
About page with the Version of nE2Link module is displayed when device is added for the first time or disconnected
Connection
- Right-click on the nE2DeviceExt on your device, to show the context menu.
Select Actions/Connect from the context menu.

- A pop-up connection window will open. Fill in the following slots:

- Fill in the following information in the connection parameters pop-up window.
- IP Address:
The nano EDGE ENGINE device address.
This can be different from the IP Address used for the BACnet connection;
- Port:
The iFnet protocol port. Default is port 88. Port 80 and 88 are allowed;
- User Name:
nano EDGE ENGINE username. Default is "admin";
- Password:
nano EDGE ENGINE password. Default is empty;
Note:
The default password must be changed after the first connection to the device in device platform
- Click OK to establish the connection with the nE2 device.
LED Progress Indicator
After clicking OK in the connection popup dialog, Niagara connects to the controller and loads the application.
The progress can be supervised by the LED indicator on the nE2DeviceExt.

After successfull connection, Info page appears. There are shown several data about device, such as
- Communication Status
- Status
- Device Name
- Device Model
- Serial Number
- OS Version
- I/O - available types and counts
- Interfaces - available types and counts
- Current Time
- Uptime
- CPU Load
- Available Datapoints
